The Miami Dade Sharks bounced back in dominant fashion, scoring three second-half goals to secure a 3–1 road win over Polk State College on Sunday afternoon. With the result, the Sharks improved to 3-2-2 overall and 2-1-1 in conference play, while Polk State fell to 6-4-1 and 1-2-1 in league action.
After a scoreless first half, the Sharks broke through in the 56th minute when sophomore Betzael Contreras fired home an unassisted strike to put Miami Dade up 1–0. Less than 10 minutes later, Sophomore forward Julia Gurgel doubled the advantage, finishing her team-leading sixth goal of the season to make it 2–0.
Polk State pulled one back in the 78th minute, as Madelyn English capitalized on a defensive lapse to bring the Eagles within 2–1. But Miami Dade quickly regained control. In the 84th minute, Jayla Espinosa delivered her first goal of the season, sealing the Sharks' 3–1 victory.
Statistically, Miami Dade controlled much of the contest, outshooting Polk 18–7 with a 12–2 edge in shots on target. Goalkeeper Ashley Fonseca was steady in net, making one save while earning the win. Polk's Ashley Miller was kept busy throughout, recording nine saves despite conceding three.
