Sharks Fall to St. Petersburg, 72–64
St. Petersburg, FL - The Sharks battled throughout but came up short Saturday afternoon, falling 72–64 to St. Petersburg College despite a strong effort on the glass and balanced contributions across the lineup.
Miami Dade found themselves playing from behind early after St. Petersburg built a first-quarter advantage, but the Sharks responded in the second and third periods to keep the game within reach. The teams traded baskets throughout the second half, with the Sharks continuing to apply pressure defensively and on the boards, finishing with a 44–28 rebounding advantage.
Jazmyne Bynum led Miami Dade with 19 points, going 11-for-13 from the free throw line while adding four rebounds and four assists. Azjannie Culberth contributed 12 points and eight rebounds, and Meredith Venner added 11 points and six rebounds. Riana Callihan anchored the interior with a game-high 12 rebounds while recording four blocks defensively.
Miami Dade recorded nine steals and nine blocks as a team but struggled to find consistent rhythm offensively, shooting 31.9 percent from the field. The Sharks remained within striking distance entering the fourth quarter, but St. Petersburg was able to maintain separation late to secure the win.
