Sharks Explode in Second Half, Storm Past Palm Beach State 93–77
The Miami Dade Sharks erased an 18-point halftime deficit with a dominant second-half performance Wednesday night, outscoring Palm Beach State College 63–29 after the break to secure a 93–77 victory.
The Sharks trailed 48–30 at halftime after Palm Beach State controlled the pace early behind strong shooting from Janiah Suprius and Macey Kovach. Miami Dade struggled to find rhythm offensively in the opening half but began to shift momentum late in the third quarter behind increased defensive pressure and relentless work on the glass.
MDC opened the second half with a 27–12 third-quarter surge, cutting the deficit to just three entering the final period. The Sharks then took control in the fourth, exploding for 36 points as transition baskets and second-chance opportunities fueled the comeback. A Jazmyne Bynum three-pointer with 7:40 remaining gave Miami Dade its first lead since the opening quarter, and the Sharks never looked back, extending the margin into double digits down the stretch.
Bynum led Miami Dade with 23 points, adding eight rebounds and five steals. Saige McCloud provided a major spark off the bench, finishing with 20 points, 14 rebounds, and six assists, while Meredith Venner recorded a double-double with 19 points and 17 rebounds along with three blocks. Constanza Aravena added 15 points and four assists as the Sharks finished with 30 offensive rebounds and 21 assists as a team.
Palm Beach State was led by Suprius' game-high 33 points and Kovach's 18, but Miami Dade's second-half defensive intensity and rebounding advantage proved to be the difference as the Sharks pulled away late.
