Bynum Drops 37 as Sharks Pull Away Late to Top Eastern Florida
Miami, FL - The Sharks closed with authority Saturday night, breaking open a tight game in the fourth quarter to beat Eastern Florida State, 91–79.
After the Sharks led 25–18 following the opening period, EFSC responded with a strong second quarter to keep things close at halftime (MDC 34, EFSC 29). The game turned into a track meet in the third, with both teams trading buckets in a 29–30 quarter that brought the contest to even footing entering the final stretch.
That's where Miami Dade delivered the separation. The Sharks outscored the Titans 28–20 in the fourth quarter, using timely stops, second-chance points, and a steady diet of free throws to slam the door.
Jazmyne Bynum powered the Sharks with a monster night: 37 points, 6 assists, and 3 steals, going 11-for-27 from the floor and 11-for-14 at the line while knocking down four threes. Riana Callihan controlled the paint with 18 points and 11 rebounds, adding three blocks as MDC held firm defensively when it mattered most.
Meredith Venner posted another double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, and Azjannie Culberth filled the stat sheet with 10 points while helping spark the Sharks' pressure on the perimeter. Constanza Aravena added 10 points and four assists, hitting 3-of-7 from deep to keep the floor spaced.
Miami Dade finished with a big edge at the stripe (20-of-24) and on the glass (43 rebounds, including 17 offensive), turning extra possessions into a decisive late push to secure the 91–79 win.
