Miami Dade Explodes for 111 Points Behind Monster Night From Bynum
Miami Dade put together one of its most complete offensive performances of the season on Saturday afternoon, powering past Denmark Technical College, 111–81, behind a dominant outing from sophomore guard Jazmyne Bynum. The Sharks shot 47% from the floor, assisted on 28 baskets, and had five players score in double figures in a game where the pace never slowed.
Bynum was unstoppable all night, finishing with 29 points, 5 threes, 5 steals, and 4 assists in 35 minutes. She caught fire in the second quarter, drilling back-to-back threes at the 2:49 and 2:33 marks that blew the game open and capped a 15–2 Miami Dade run. Her scoring stretch carried into the third, where she added another pair of deep jumpers and a transition layup off her own steal to keep the Sharks in full control.
While Bynum headlined the night, the Sharks' interior play was just as overwhelming. Meredith Venner turned in a massive 23-point, 19-rebound outing, dominating the glass and converting a steady stream of putbacks and short jumpers. Riana Callihan posted a strong double-double of her own with 20 points and 10 boards, repeatedly finishing through contact in transition and scoring eight points in the final frame. Freshman guard Marcela Ulloa orchestrated the offense with a game-high 12 assists, keeping the ball moving and consistently finding shooters in rhythm.
After trailing 24–22 at the end of the first quarter, Miami Dade flipped the script with a 29-14 second-quarter surge fueled by defensive stops, second-chance buckets, and a burst of perimeter shooting. By halftime, the Sharks led 51–38 and never allowed Denmark Tech to get back within single digits. MDC would go on to score 31 points in the third quarter and 29 more in the fourth, pushing past the 100-point mark for the second time this season.
Malasia Jamison led Denmark Tech with 34 points and 12 rebounds, but Miami Dade's depth and tempo were too much to overcome as the Sharks forced 24 turnovers and turned them into 27 points.
Miami Dade improves to 3-3 and returns to action tomorrow at 12 pm when they take on #5 ranked Gulf Coast State College.
