Sharks Overpowered on the Road
Fort Myers, FL - Miami Dade couldn't keep pace with a red-hot Florida SouthWestern State College squad Wednesday night, falling 95–55 after the Buccaneers seized control early and never let go.
FSW jumped out to a 44–27 halftime advantage behind sharp perimeter shooting and relentless ball movement. The Buccaneers knocked down 15 three-pointers on the night and shot 48 percent from the floor, stretching the margin even further in the second half with a 51-point surge to seal the 40-point win.
Miami Dade struggled to find offensive rhythm, finishing 20-for-57 (35.1%) from the field and just 5-for-22 (22.7%) from beyond the arc. The Sharks were also hurt by turnovers, committing 19 compared to FSW's 12, leading to easy transition opportunities the other way.
Anthony Gilkes led the way for MDC with 21 points on 7-of-16 shooting, adding nine rebounds in a strong all-around effort. David Verstraeten chipped in 12 points and five boards, while Randy Smith added eight points and two steals. Zayvian Bieger provided a spark off the bench with six points, including a pair of threes.
FSW showcased balanced scoring with four starters in double figures. Mason Blazer paced the Buccaneers with 18 points, while Tyler Bey added 15 points and nine rebounds. Kenyon Giles contributed 14 points and six assists, and Amont'e Allen-Johnson finished with 12 points and six assists as FSW piled up 20 assists on 36 made field goals.
The rebounding battle also favored the Buccaneers, 48–30, including 15 offensive boards that created second-chance opportunities throughout the night.
Miami Dade will look to regroup and tighten up defensively as the Sharks prepare for their next matchup.
