Sharks fall to Palm Beach
In a hard-fought game, the Miami Dade Sharks ultimately fell to Palm Beach State College 74-65. Miami Dade struggled to close the gap after a slow start, trailing by nine points at halftime. Despite a strong effort in the second half, both teams scored an equal 34 points, allowing Palm Beach State to maintain their lead and secure the victory.
Randy Smith led the charge for the Sharks, scoring 18 points on 6-of-13 shooting and hitting five three-pointers. He also added four rebounds and two steals, providing energy on both ends of the court. Kenneth Brayboy was a force on the boards, pulling down eight rebounds, including four offensive, while scoring 11 points. Bronson Borlace also contributed significantly with 14 points and a game-high 14 rebounds, but the Sharks' overall shooting was inconsistent, with only a 37.5% field goal percentage and 34.6% from beyond the arc.
Palm Beach State benefited from a balanced attack, with ten different players scoring. Carter Mungin led their offense with 16 points, going 5-for-9 from the field and a perfect 6-of-8 from the free-throw line. Marvin Golf added 11 points and five rebounds, and Syris Williams chipped in 10 points and five assists, efficiently guiding the offense. The Panthers shot 46.0% from the field and 57.9% from the line, but they controlled the tempo and capitalized on turnovers, committing only 10 compared to Miami Dade's 14.
The Sharks squad will look to bounce back next Thursday when they take on Time to Ball Prep at home.
