Bio
Miami Dade College is proud to welcome Paola Ampudia back to the Sharks family as an assistant coach. A decorated international athlete and experienced coach, Ampudia brings a championship pedigree and a global perspective to the program.
A standout for MDC from 2006–2008, Ampudia helped lead the Sharks to national prominence, earning NJCAA National Player of the Year honors in 2007 before continuing her collegiate career at the University of Missouri. At Mizzou, she became one of the Big 12 Conference’s most dominant players, earning accolades such as Big 12 Newcomer of the Year (2009), All-Big 12 First Team (2010), and AVCA All-Central Region First Team. She was also named AVCA National Player of the Week and received Honorable Mention All-American recognition in 2010.
Ampudia’s professional career spanned six years and took her across the globe, competing in leagues in Puerto Rico, Italy, Azerbaijan, Poland, Peru, and Indonesia. She also enjoyed a distinguished run with the Colombian National Team from 2004–2016, serving as team captain for four years and representing her country in numerous international events, including the Pan American Games, Central American and Caribbean Games, South American Games, and Olympic qualification tournaments.
Off the court, Ampudia has built an impressive coaching résumé, with experience at Stephens College, Rockbridge High School, Missouri Juniors Volleyball Club, and internationally at Gimnasio Campestre La Fontana in Colombia. She also served as a graduate assistant coach at the University of Missouri while earning her master’s degree, and is a dedicated teacher of the game with a proven ability to mentor athletes at all levels.
With her blend of championship experience, international success, and commitment to player development, Paola Ampudia adds depth, knowledge, and inspiration to the Sharks’ coaching staff.
