Sharks Sweep Andrew College to Capture NJCAA Atlantic A District Championship
Miami Dade dominated from start to finish to secure the NJCAA Atlantic A District Championship, sweeping Andrew College and punching its ticket to the NJCAA Division I National Tournament. The victory improved the Sharks to 25–2 overall, extending their postseason winning streak while showcasing the power and precision that have defined their season.
The Sharks opened the match on fire, hitting an incredible .542 in the first set behind flawless execution from setter Antonia Meiser, who tallied 27 assists, 4 aces, and 5 points in the opening frame alone. Miami Dade stormed out to an 8–0 run midway through the first set as Talibah Hamlett and Emelee Lopez combined for a string of kills that forced multiple timeouts from Andrew. The Sharks' block anchored by Hamlett and Lopez closed the door on any comeback, finishing the frame 25–8.
In the second set, Veronika Petrova took control at the net, racking up kills from every angle en route to a .400 hitting percentage and a match-high 15 kills overall. Frances Vinuela and Paulina Agudelo Marin added service pressure with key aces that kept Andrew out of rhythm. Miami Dade's efficiency dipped slightly but remained dominant, holding Andrew to a negative .273 hitting percentage in the set and cruising to a 25–12 win.
Andrew managed to show some fight in the third, briefly leading 8–7 before the Sharks regained control thanks to strong defense from Andrea Montoya, who notched 8 digs and two clutch aces. The offense reignited behind Meiser's steady hands, finding Petrova and Hamlett repeatedly to close out the match 25–18.
Miami Dade's balance was on full display on Sunday as five players hit over .300, and the team finished with a stellar .368 attack percentage while committing only ten errors across three sets. The Sharks also dominated from the service line, posting 11 aces to Andrew's four.
With the win, Miami Dade claims the NJCAA Atlantic A District title, marking another milestone in the program's decorated history. The Sharks will now turn their focus to the NJCAA Division I National Championship Tournament, where they look to chase their first national crown since 2017 and continue their remarkable run under head coach Kiko Benoit.
