Sharks Pour It On, Complete Sweep of Hillsborough
Miami, FL - The Miami Dade Sharks capped off a dominant day with an 11-2 run-rule victory over Hillsborough Community College in Game 2, securing the series sweep in emphatic fashion.
After falling behind early, the Sharks wasted no time responding. Hillsborough struck first in the opening inning, but Miami Dade answered immediately, capitalizing on defensive miscues to take a 2-1 lead.
The Hawks briefly tied things up in the second, but from that point on, it was all Sharks.
Miami Dade broke the game open with a three-run second inning, highlighted by a two-RBI double from Caroline Mito and an RBI single from Ebba Sofia Eriksson to make it 5-2. The floodgates fully opened in the third, where the Sharks erupted for six runs, taking advantage of wild pitches and errors while continuing to deliver timely hits.
Mito led the offensive explosion, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBIs and two doubles. Eriksson added a huge performance of her own, finishing with two hits, including a triple, and driving in two runs. Sofia Reyes also played a key role, scoring twice and setting the tone on the bases.
In the circle, Ella Brooks earned her first win of the season, allowing two runs over two innings. Enora Simon and Maria Julia Pedroso combined to shut things down the rest of the way, holding Hillsborough scoreless over the final three innings.
The Sharks racked up 11 hits while aggressively applying pressure on the bases, turning walks, wild pitches, and errors into runs throughout the game.
