Sharks Clinch Series with 5-2 Win in Game 2
Miami, FL - Miami Dade locked up the series on Saturday, taking Game 2 over Seminole State, 5-2, after already grabbing Game 1 on the road.
The Sharks came out aggressive early, plating three runs in the first inning to take immediate control. Willy Mendez got things started with an RBI single, and William Polanco followed with a run-scoring knock as Miami Dade capitalized on early opportunities to jump ahead 3-0.
They added breathing room in the fourth when Adrian Areizaga delivered a two-RBI hit, pushing the lead to 5-0. Areizaga led the offense with a perfect 2-for-2 day, two RBI, and a walk, while the Sharks totaled eight hits and applied pressure throughout.
On the mound, Samuel Alonso was sharp, going five innings with six strikeouts to earn the win. Luis Lorenzo handled the final two innings, allowing no hits while closing it out for his third save of the season.
Seminole State managed to scratch across two runs in the fifth, but that was all they would get as Miami Dade's pitching staff held firm down the stretch.
With the win, the Sharks secure the series victory heading into Game 3, continuing to build momentum in conference play.
