Gonzalez’s Four-Hit Day Not Enough as Sharks Fall in Game Two at Central Florida
Ocala, FL – Jendy Gonzalez turned in a standout performance at the plate, but Miami Dade College dropped game two of Saturday's doubleheader, falling 8–4 to the College of Central Florida.
Miami Dade struck first in the opening inning when Adrian Areizaga drove in Gonzalez to give the Sharks an early lead, but Central Florida answered immediately with a solo home run to even the score. The game remained tight through the middle innings as both teams traded momentum before the Patriots used timely power hitting to create separation late.
Gonzalez paced the Sharks offensively, finishing 4-for-5 with a home run, two RBIs, and two runs scored. His two-run homer in the fifth inning briefly put Miami Dade back in front, and Samuel Castro later added an RBI double in the sixth to keep the Sharks within striking distance. Adrian Areizaga and Leamsi Montanez each added a hit as Miami Dade collected eight hits on the afternoon.
TJ Socarras provided a strong start on the mound, allowing just one run across four innings while striking out three. Central Florida broke through in the fifth with a three-run homer to regain the lead, then added insurance runs in the seventh and eighth innings, including a late three-run home run that pushed the margin to its final score.
Despite the loss, Miami Dade continued to apply pressure offensively throughout the game, but Central Florida's bullpen combined for eight strikeouts over the final three innings to close out the victory.
